Letras Latinas is the only Spanish and Portuguese community library in New Zealand.
Founded in 2006 as part of ALAC (Aotearoa Latin American Community) its purpose is to share our cultural richness as well as preserving and growing awareness of the Spanish and Portuguese languages within New Zealand.
We’ve got more than 5,000 books for kids, teenagers and adults, and through donations and cultural events we keep expanding our cultural treasure to share with the public.
Apart from the classics and well known Latin-American authors like Juan Rulfo, Octavio Paz, Carlos Monsivais, Neruda, Jorge Amado, Garcia Marquez, Isabel Allende, Carlos Fuentes and Arturo Perez Reverte we endeavour to have the latest prize winning novels, we are always up to date with the best!
We are very excited to be part of the MexFestival this year. As part of the festival, we will be sharing wonderful short stories for kids that will transport them to the magical worlds of the Maya and the Aztecs. We will also be reading selections from exciting and beautiful novels for young readers through to adults.
We look forward to see you in the MexFestival!
